My gift to them did not turn out so adorable.
I made them some homemade peppermint patties. It was pretty funny really. After turning the kitchen upside down I was almost done when Owen proclaimed that he didn't like peppermint (oh, really?) then they turned out looking like this... whaaa?!
They may look like a complete hot mess, but I'm telling you... they taste like heaven!
I'm still debating if I'd ever attempt these again. I followed this recipe from How Sweet It Is and they were pretty difficult. Maybe I added too much oil.
The next time I attempt homemade candy bars I think it will be these Three Musketeer Bars with only three ingredients, whoa!
Hi Sarah! I have an amazing recipe for homemade peppermint patties. It's pretty fail-safe and I'm happy to share it with you if you're interested! Isn't it so fun to share these holidays with little ones?
ReplyDeleteI, too, have a pretty fail-safe recipe. Maybe the same as Kates? All Recipes link: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Peppermint-Patties/Detail.aspx
ReplyDeleteHi Sarah, sounds like you had a sweet day. I tried to make heart shaped ravioli...and they were not a success. But its the thought right? Hope you still had fun, and they do look delicious!
ReplyDeleteI need all the help I can get, don't I!? Thanks girls! :)
ReplyDeleteJill, heart shaped ravioli is quite the undertaking, you get extra points for attempting something on that level!
Here is the secret to perfect peppermint patties, regardless of recipe: FREEZE the white part before you dip them! I roll mine out into patties, freeze on a cookie sheet, then dip them straight from the freezer. If they warm up too much, just stick them back in for a bit!
