Owen's Birthday is Under Construction

My baby turned 2 yesterday! Since he is really in to cars, trucks and tools we decided to have a construction themed party for him at the local elementary school playground. It was super fun, but super cold!!
The invitations were a simple printout backed with duct tape and I made brown paper bag envelopes. I spent next to nothing on these since I had all of the materials at home (you'll notice that that was the case with most of my decorations for the party. You don't need a lot of money to have a cute party.)

This was the wording (inspired from Birthday Party Ideas):
Owen's 2nd Birthday Party is Under Construction
Job Site: XX Elementary Playground
Project Date: Saturday, Nov. 21
Shift Time: 9:30-11:30am
Company Brunch is Provided
Please RSVP to Job Site Supervisor: Me!
The menu:
Spinach and ham quiche
Ham and cheese quiche
Sausage balls
Fruit Salad
Cinnamon Rolls
Yogurt
Yogurts were served chilled in a tool box and galvanized buckets held the silverware. The table cloth was a clean tarp held down by shop clamps.
Since Owen was turning two he got to invite 2 of his favorite little buddies. They each got a tool box with a real flashlight, paint brushes, and tape measure... a big hit!
The cake was a borrowed dump truck filled with dirt cake.
My hubby had a great idea to put the cake on the ground and let them go at it. We got tons of great laughs out of this! Check out the size of that bite!
Happy Birthday to my little Owen. We are so proud of you!

Psalm 127:4 "Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are sons born in one's youth."

Yay, how sweet! My sons love construction vehicles, and "tractors" have been the request for the past 2 birthdays for my 3 year old. You did a great job! I love the galvanized "cooler" idea! :)

How very cute! Happy Birthday, Owen! The pictures of them eating the "cake" was so cute. The # of kids equal to the child's age is such a good rule of thumb. And sometimes it even depends on the child's preference: Mason only wanted to have 3 friends over for his recent 6th birthday (of course, his 2 sisters were there, too.
This was such a clever idea for your theme!
