Homemade Ornaments.

This year I convinced the hubby to go with a theme for our Christmas decorations. It was a difficult task to encourage him to keep his colored lights in the box and go with all white lights along with red, white and silver ornaments. Difficult, but I prevailed!

Since we didn't have enough ornaments to go with the theme I decided to make some. No way was I going to buy full priced ornaments!! I found this tutorial on Zakka Life and whipped one up during Sunday night football.
The yarn snowballs were so fun to make. Eight of them took me one "So You Think You Can Dance" and a results show! Easy! Here's a great tutorial if you've never made a yarn pom pom snowball before.
We're back to colored lights without a theme next year, so I'd better enjoy this while it lasts! What about your family? Do you go for white or colored lights? Real or fake tree?

For us it's always a real tree, it's an annual family event...we go to a tree farm, pick and cut down our own. White lights!! Lots and lots of white lights...
I love the honeycomb ornament!

We definitely always get a real tree. That's where I prevail b/c Luke would to have a fake one and spend money once, rather than every year. And we don't have a theme, just ornaments that Luke's been getting since he was born then the few that we collect together every year! Our tree is packed already!

Merry Christmas!

Oh yeah, and we LOVE LOVE LOVE colored lights EVERYWHERE! Hardly and white light anywhere in our house!

We always do white lights inside the house and the colored lights outside. I would rather white lights in and out, but having colored lights outside is a nice compromise for hubby and the girls :)
Do we get to see a full tree pic? I'm sure it will be lovely!

Cute ornaments!

We have a fake tree with white lights and a hodgepodge of ornaments, although I have ended up with a lot of purple and gold on there! This year we also have a real tabletop tree for my LSU ornaments.

Hubs is away this year so we are going with a fake one, and white lights although I prefer the colored ones. We love homemade ornaments, and plastic ones since there are little hands here.

We always get a real tree too! Every year we talk about getting a fake one but the kids protest!

Thanks for the link!

We have too many allergies - we use fake trees. I love your pom pom ornaments - it's on my to do list.

You could totally make these ornaments red and white. Just if you need something else for your tree.

I got some great strands of colored LED lights, they use 83% less energy! Therefore, I've justified leaving them plugged in almost always! Tree is fake, can't handle the cold chopping it down, hauling it alone, and cleaning up those needles. Not to mention, killing a tree for about 1 mo. of enjoyment. This is the one instance that fake is great!

I can completely picture each one of your beautiful homes in my head! Thanks for sharing the way you decorate. Debra Joy, I love the ornament you made out of starlight mints! So cute! Andrea, what a great compromise... white lights inside and colored lights outside. I'm going to have to keep that in mind for next year!
