The Woman Behind the Curtain...

Hey Friends!
I've been journaling a lot since I've been here at the hospital. I hadn't thought about keeping you all updated about the things I'm going through and the things I'm learning right now because it's not craft related at all. But after getting all of your sweet comments and emails I decided how disingenuous it is of me to share only my crafty ideas and not who I truly am. I realize many of you are here just to see the latest project I'm working on, and don't worry, those posts will continue to make up a vast majority of this blog, but every once in a while I'd like to pull a Wizard of Oz move on you and show you "the (wo)man behind the curtain." How does that sound?

If you're not game for it, no problem, no feelings hurt on my end, I promise. But if you'd like to stick with me I'd love to go a little deeper!

So here are the latest stats...
4... The number of weeks I've been here at the hospital... a full month!
35... The number of weeks I have been pregnant.
7... The number of IV's I've had since I've been here.
8... The number of days until my scheduled c-section when we get to meet this little guy!

I've learned a lot from my hospital stay. Now that we are on the home stretch I'm realizing just how perfect my job as a full time mom is for me! I didn't know how much I loved doing the laundry, cleaning my house, making healthy meals, picking up toys, and shaping the heart of a strong-willed two and a half year old until all of these things had been stripped away from me. I love being a mom and I can't wait to resume that role very soon!

Maybe the good that God intended to come out of this was my greater appreciation for the job that He has me doing right now. Maybe it was for the relationships I've built while here. Maybe He allowed this time so that I could slow down with my fabulous husband and enjoy some rest before the next phase of life starts. I won't know His exact reason yet, but if nothing more, I have learned again just how reliable He is in the middle of trials. I can trust Him completely because "He who promised is faithful."

"Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful." Hebrews 10:23

Obviously on my own I wouldn't do well with this, so it's a good thing that I have a powerful God on my side who is the Great Physician and who is mighty to save! He promises to sustain me, to never let me fall; He's going to quiet my racing mind and rejoice over me with singing. Isn't that a tender picture!? That's what we have available to us through Him!

Psalm 55:22, "Cast your cares on the Lord and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous fall."

Zephaniah 3:17, "The Lord your God is with you, He is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing."

This is precious, sweetie. My babies are 26 and 23, and I never had to endure what you have. You have been equipped. The real fun will soon begin. Good job! Thank God for a supportive mate, too.

Very lovely, Sarah-- and it's so nice to see that your spirits are so high after all the time off your feet. Thanks for these verses, they are so appropriate.

You're gonna have me singing, "My God is mighty to save. He is mighty to save. Forever, author of salvation. He rose and"...okay I'll stop now.

Excited for you to meet your new son!

Oh my goodness, I had no idea. I would have been sending you friendly emails to brighten your day :) Guess I can start doing that now. I love your outlook and truly believe it all to be so. I love that you had this time to realize all that you love and think about all that is to come. Baby #2 will be so rewarding. I remember worrying about my firstborn not feeling loved enough or about not having enough time to give both of them all the attention they deserved. The moment you meet #2, all those fears will be washed away and you'll realize you have enough love to have 19 kids & counting ... although you will never have enough time :(
Hang in there!

I can feel for you having been on bed rest myself with my second child. I was in hospital for a month and she was born at 28/29 weeks (depending on whose stats you went by . . . hospitals vs. midwife's). It was not easy being away from my oldest. I also remember how the first Saturday I went to take a shower all the towels were gone. I learned to stack up a little before the weekend. The good that came from it is that I made some good friends from the experience and am at our current church because of one of them.

How wonderful that your little one will make his debut soon! Enjoy every moment! We just had our fourth child not long ago and he's already growing too fast (he's only a month old). LOL!

It's amazing how much perspective you gain when things you thought were a given are taken away from you. Yay for your upcoming new addition... hang in there. :) You could do some embroidery in your hospital bed! :)
