We finished redecorating our dining room but then it got taken over by my sewing machine for a few weeks so I'm sorry for the really long delay in getting these pictures up. Here it is in before and after style:
The Inspiration Board
This redesign started when I liked a font color in a magazine. Kyle agreed and we decided to make it our accent color. My cousin, Anne, is in design school so she gave me a ton of good pointers for the furniture arrangement.
Before the room had almost a yellow glow, and not in a good way. It had a brass light fixture and no color on the walls.
We didn't want to go through the huge hassle of painting all of the dental molding and I'm glad we didn't now seeing how much better it looks with a coat of paint on the walls. We painted the brass fixture too and added curtains in our accent color.
We spaced out these pictures on the wall opposite the windows and added the mirror. The large grouping will balance the room better and and reflect the light from the windows.
Before the chairs were a lighter wood tone...
...so I painted them to match the shutters. A brilliant idea that my husband came up with.
Before there was a bachelor's chest on the back wall that was too small and flowers that were too big.
We moved the bachelor's chest to another room and cut the flowers down (directions here). Now we are on the lookout for a hutch like the one on the inspiration board and we'll be all done.
